Gals' Game Night for ages 16-28

These events are meant for 16-to-28-year-old women and girls while respecting gender self-identification and diversity. We speak both Finnish and English at the event. Events are held on Fridays on even-numbered weeks from 16:30 to 22:00. Are you interested in PC or console gaming in a safer space? Do you want to try out a VR headset? Are you looking for friends interested in the same things as you? Come and get your gaming on at this gaming event meant for women and girls! At other womens and girls' gaming nights we played Overwatch, Jackbox games and Mario Kart, what should we play this time? Gamehouse Sture has 20 powerful gaming PCs, Nintento Switch and Playstation 5 consoles, VR headsets and loads of board games. The event has youth workers (Siikku and Jonathan!) there to help you out with technical difficulties, choosing games and finding people to play game with. Playing with the PCs requires your own accounts, so make sure you know how to log in to your Steam, Epic or Battlenet account. You can download games to the PCs with our super-fast internet, as long as you have a license for it. PEGI 18 games are not allowed in the space due to there being under 18-year-olds present. We require the free Helsinki Youth Services membership card, more commonly known as Jässäri. The first time you visit you don't have to have everything ready, the youth workers can help you out! More information about Jässäri can be read here. More info: email: pelitalo@hel.fi Discord: siikkuohjaaja, jonttu_ohjaaja Instagram: PelitaloSture phone/WA: 0406433225 Directions on video

Children’s Book Festival Halloween Party

Come and join us for the top-secret Black Moon Halloween Party and meet a real-life dragon. The authors of the Musta Kuu (Black Moon) book series (Lasten keskus 2021–) writer Reetta Niemelä and picture book author Katri Kirkkopelto – will attend the event. The dragon will be brought to life by puppeteer Alma Rajala. WORKSHOPS TROLL “I’d organise a party for the trolls. We’d have a good time together as friends, and I wouldn’t have to be afraid of them any more!” In this workshop, you get to make trolls out of collage materials cut from magazines. You glue the trolls onto magic paper, where they are safe and cannot break free. Once you feel comfortable enough to take a closer look at the troll, you may discover that maybe all it really needs is some attention and a kind, gentle approach. The workshop is based on Satu Kettunen’s picture book Mörköjuhlat (Monster Party, Tammi 2019). MONSTER In this workshop, participants will craft various terrifying masks under the guidance of Pinja Meretoja. You can draw inspiration from Meretoja’s newly published picture book, *Monsterit vapaalla* ("Monsters on the Loose"), which features a classic cast of monsters—the Mummy, Dracula, the Werewolf, the Yeti, Frankenstein, a Ghost, a Zombie, and a Witch—or you can invent your own chilling character. The only limit is your imagination! Well-suited for ages 5–12. You are welcome to dress up according to the theme.
