The Creative Writing Group and The Philosopher’s Pen (Grades 3–6)
We draw inspiration from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. We explore the fantasy genre, find inspiration in owls, spells and more. We will write wonderful stories! Just as in our regular creative writing classes, the focus is on the students' creative drive, ambition and personal writing development. The creative writing teachers encourage, guide, and cheer the students on. The course is offered as an advanced creative writing session for students in grades 3–6 currently attending the creative writing school. Children not enrolled in the creative writing school are also warmly welcome to sign up. Students will be divided into age groups during the course. The course is taught in Swedish. Please bring your own snack and water bottle! The course is free, but registration is required. Registrate before November 8th at ordkonst.fi.

In this workshop, you'll get to craft a lovely backpack buddy. In the 'Invisible Backpack' books, the main character Rosali has a plush friend, Possu, who acts as a power figure and companion, helping Rosali express her feelings. Everyone in the workshop gets to make their own character to be their backpack buddy. This friend can come along as your own power figure and companion, who sees your secret backpack and reminds you it's there. In the workshop, you'll think about what important reminder your own backpack buddy could offer. The workshop explores sensitivity, feeling overwhelmed, and recovery, based on the 'Invisible Backpack' children's book series. The workshop leaders are Maria Vilja, a picture book author (including the 'Invisible Backpack' series), social worker, and visual arts educator, and Reetta Huhta, a children's and youth emotional skills instructor, drama, and visual arts pedagogue. The workshop runs on a non-stop basis. Children participate with their own adult. Entry to the workshop is free. This event is part of Espoo Children's Weekend.
